Kevin Humphries, Member for Barwon, today announced that one of the region’s latest events, The Sunsets Music Festival at Silverton has secured $20,000 from the NSW Government’s 2019 Incubator Event Fund.

Kevin said the Incubator Event Fund assists rural and regional events in their first or second year to grow attendance and boost the local visitor economy.

“Whether it is food and wine events or music and sporting festivals, we know that events play an important role in driving additional overnight visitation to the Far West region and help to create more jobs.

“The Sunsets Music Festival is a fantastic way to fuel our local economy by putting more heads on hotel beds, diners in our restaurants and shoppers in our boutiques, and I am delighted this event will receive this NSW Government funding support.”

“Peter Price from the Silverton Hotel should be congratulated for building on the success of the inaugural 2018 music festival and deserves our support to grow this event further,” Kevin Humphries said.

Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said the NSW Government is doing all we can to supercharge regional communities.

“Our regional communities are full of brilliant ideas and the Incubator Event Fund provides a platform to get events off the ground and up and running – events that will help enliven and kick start local economies.

“As a country Minister, it’s really important to me that NSW Government support continues to reach every corner of the State’s tourism industry, and I congratulate The Sunsets Music Festival on its success in Round One of the 2019 Incubator Event Fund,” Mr Marshall said.

The Incubator Event Fund offers one-off grants of up to $20,000 to those staging an event for the first or second time to fund elements such as staging, venue hire, research, marketing and publicity activities.
