NEW FUNDING FOR VETERANS PROJECTS ACROSS NSW

Thursday, 28 February 2019

Member for Barwon, Kevin Humphries was pleased with the announcement of the latest successful applicants of the Community War Memorials Fund (CWMF) and the Anzac Community Grants Program (ACGP).

Kevin Humphries said the NSW Government was investing a total of $129, 681 under the CWMF in 18 projects across the state, and $45,429 under the ACGP, which will fund 25 projects, many in rural areas.

Nearly forty NSW communities will receive funding to commemorate veterans across the state.

More than $175,000 will be invested in the protection and repair of local war memorials and supporting projects that commemorate the sacrifice of service men and women.

“The NSW Government is investing in communities across the state to conserve and protect war memorials, ensuring locals have a place to commemorate the service and sacrifice of our service men and women.

“From 2014-2018, communities all around NSW commemorated the centenary of the First World War, which culminated in the opening of the Anzac Memorial Centenary Extension,” Kevin Humphries said.

The CWMF provides grants of up to $10,000 to protect and conserve war memorials including statues, honour rolls and halls, which commemorate the Anzac Legacy.

The ACGP provides grants of up to $2,000 to local organisations to recognise Australia’s war service history, educate a new generation and support the NSW veteran community.

“I encourage all communities who believe their local memorial needs conservation or protection to apply,” Kevin Humphries said.

Applications for the CWMF are open until Anzac Day, Thursday 25 April 2019. For more information, please click here.
