Kevin Humphries

Thursday, 14 February 2019

Member for Barwon, Kevin Humphries announced today that three new NSW TrainLink coach services from Broken Hill will commence later this year and will give families, those travelling for work and tourists, more choice and flexibility when travelling to Adelaide or Mildura.

Kevin Humphries said the proposed coach services are a win for Broken Hill.

“The existing transport links between Broken Hill and these two cities are limited, which means people often need to book flights or drive themselves.

“The proposed new services to Adelaide would give families, tourists and business people more flexible and affordable travel options, with a day-return option available, or the opportunity to spend a weekend away before returning on the Sunday afternoon,” Kevin Humphries said.

“Mildura is a popular destination for Broken Hill residents. The proposed coach service will allow them to travel directly to Mildura Central and return home a few hours later on the same day.

“Customers would also have the option of connecting with flights and other coach or train services in Mildura to Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, as well as many regional centres.

“It is expected that inbound passengers from the Adelaide and Mildura regions will also take advantage of the transport connection – growing the visitor economy.

“We are hoping by providing the community frequent, reliable coach services, more people will turn to public transport to travel from Broken Hill to Adelaide and Mildura.”

“Labor completely neglected rural and regional NSW. Since 2011 the NSW Liberals and Nationals have delivered around 1,500 new buses in the bush along with more than 36,000 new public transport services throughout NSW.

NSW TrainLink is seeking feedback from the community on the proposed routes, dates and times of services, planned to commence later this year.

“We’re inviting the community to come down to the NSW TrainLink information sessions or stalls to tell us how they’d like this coach service to work.

The proposed service will use modern coaches with a wheelchair lift, space for up to two wheelchairs and an on-board toilet.
Feedback on the proposed coach trials can also be provided via an online survey at: which closes 22 March.
