BROKEN HILL TO BENEFIT FROM NSW GOVERNMENT FUNDING

Thursday, 28 February 2019

Kevin Humphries, Member for Barwon today announced that the Perfect Light Film Festival will benefit from NSW Government funding under Round Two of the 2019 Flagship Event Fund.

Kevin Humphries said, “the Fund provides an annual grant of $20,000 or a triennial grant of $27,500 for marketing initiatives aimed at driving overnight visitation.

“Hosting events helps shine a bright light on Broken Hill while putting more heads on beds and diners in our restaurants, and I’m delighted that the Perfect Light Film Festival has secured a $20,000 NSW Government grant.

“Whether it’s food and wine events or music and sporting festivals, we know that events play an important role in driving additional overnight visitation to our region and help to create more jobs.

“After the success of the previous Perfect Light Film Festivals in Broken Hill and the opportunity it gives our local film makers to submit entries and network with the best in the industry; world class actors & directors, it was an easy decision for the State Government to continue to support this event,” Kevin Humphries said.

Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall congratulated the Perfect Light Film Festival on their initiative which will help achieve the NSW Government’s goal of tripling overnight visitor expenditure and reaching $25 billion in regional visitor expenditure by 2030.

“Our Regional Flagship Events Program has allowed us to establish, market and develop events that give visitors more reasons to get out and see all that beautiful rural and regional NSW has to offer.

“Whether you are an event owner, tour operator, accommodation provider or attraction owner, we’re working hard right across our regions to make it easier for you to access vital grants to get your initiative off the ground and to get tourism booming more than ever before” Mr Marshall said.

The Flagship Event Fund is part of the Regional Flagship Events Program, which includes three different funding streams.

The Perfect Light Film Festival will be held in Broken Hill later in the year on a date to be confirmed.
