$1,761,000 FOR BROKEN HILL

Kevin Humphries, Member for Barwon today announced $1,761,000 in funding to breathe new life into community and local sporting facilities across Broken Hill, through round two of the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.

The Broken Hill City Council secured NSW Government funding for projects, which include upgrades to playgrounds, sporting, and community facilities across Broken Hill.

Kevin Humphries said this fund will invest in these regional communities through infrastructure projects.
“This means a total of $1,761,000for projects across 7 community and local sporting facilities including:
• $ 273,444 for Sturt Park Playground upgrade
• $ 664,226 to Lifeline for a recycling facility extension
• $ 383,415 for refurbishments to the Napredak Club
• $ 197,350 Silver City Swim Centre pool upgrade
• $ 83,940 for Outdoor Gyms at Sturt Park & Picton Oval
• $ 86,031 for Kintore Reserve picnic train shelters and BBQ area upgrade
• $ 73,150 for the Desert Rats motor support facility Stage1

“I am excited about the great potential of these community projects to enhance the lives of residents in Broken Hill,” Kevin Humphries said.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said the roll out of the second round of projects takes Stronger Country Communities funding to $300 million.

“I congratulate the Broken Hill City Council and look forward to the local sports and community facility improvements that will make the region an even more attractive place to work and raise a family,” Mr Barilaro said.

“The $300 million Stronger Country Communities Fund is part of the NSW Government’s $1.6 billion Regional Growth Fund that is employing local tradies, putting local suppliers to work and providing the right environment to operate regional businesses,” he said.
