$100 CREATIVE KIDS VOUCHERS GO LIVE

Member for Barwon, Kevin Humphries said the NSW Government’s Creative Kids program, which builds on the success of the Active Kids program, is back this year, helping to reduce the cost of registration to assist young people in experiencing cultural and learning activities outside of school in 2019.

As parents begin planning for the year ahead, they can now access Creative Kids vouchers, providing them with $100 for every school-age child to help cover the cost of enrolment for these activities.

FUNDING ACCESS IN SUPPORT OF THE DROUGHT RELIEF

• NSW Government providing grants of up to $300,000 towards costs of maintenance and improvements on council roads, eg shoulder repairs, road surface repairs and signage
• Recently completed projects which improve freight access for drought relief can be considered
• Improvements will be made to freight links that provide relief to other parts of the local road network

Kevin Humphries said today that Councils are receiving much needed funds to support the increased movement of stock, feed and water as part of the drought relief.

Kevin Humphries, Member for Barwon today announced the extension of NSW Government funding, with more than $50,157.81 annually over three years, for the Community Living Supports (CLS) program in the Far West Local Health District

Kevin Humphries said “People in the Far West living with complex mental illness will be supported to live well and participate in their communities, through a $150,473.44 investment for Mission Australia over three years.

BROKEN HILL VANDALS UNDER THE SPOTLIGHT

Kevin Humphries, Member for Barwon, said Broken Hill streets will be safer thanks to a recent NSW Government investment to help bolster security measures around the CBD and airport,.

Kevin Humphries said the NSW Government and Broken Hill City Council are together investing almost $320,000 to upgrade local security measures.

The funding is part of the fourth round of the $10 million NSW Community Safety Fund, which invests in innovative projects to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.

$750,000 TO BOOST JOBS AND INVESTMENT IN BROKEN HILL

Kevin Humphries, member for Barwon today announced $750,000 in NSW Government funding for the ‘Australia’s Heritage Perfectly Highlighted’ project that will increase tourist visitation, create local jobs and grow the local economy by bringing dollars into the region.

Kevin Humphries said “The $750,000 grant from the Growing Local Economies Fund will enable Broken Hill to promote the city’s iconic public buildings and share the stories behind Broken Hill as Australia’s First Heritage Listed City.

Kevin Humphries, Member for Barwon today announced $3.5 Million, in NSW Government funding for the Baaka Cultural Centre project that will showcase the region, attract higher tourist numbers and create local jobs.

“The round two Regional Growth Environment and Tourism Fund grant, will enable the Central Darling Shire to refurbish the remnant Knox & Downs heritage site in Wilcannia as a Baakantji Cultural Centre to breathe life back into the community.

SKILLS AND EMPLOYMENT FORECASTS REVEALED FOR BROKEN HILL

Member for Barwon Kevin Humphries said as school leavers consider their career options for 2019, a recent study by TAFE NSW of Broken Hill and the Far West has forecast exciting employment growth areas in the Health, Community Services and Construction industries over the next two years.

The study predicted growth in full-time employment opportunities as a result of a current skills shortage, aging population and exciting investments in the region.

SUNSETS MUSIC FESTIVAL IN SILVERTON TO RECEIVE NSW GOVERNMENT FUNDING BOOST

Kevin Humphries, Member for Barwon, today announced that one of the region’s latest events, The Sunsets Music Festival at Silverton has secured $20,000 from the NSW Government’s 2019 Incubator Event Fund.

Kevin said the Incubator Event Fund assists rural and regional events in their first or second year to grow attendance and boost the local visitor economy.
